About The Department

The department of environmental studies started since the establishment of the college. It has a devoted faculty, committed to the high standards of teaching. Theoritical course is being conducted in the department. The courses belong to physical, biological,and chemical process of environment. As a part of the project the department organizes  polluted village area of environment. The department’s commitment to basic and applied teaching encourages students to go for higher education as well as for Research activities. Besides, environment is one of the major subjects in various competitive examinations and hence, students find it useful to study for the preparation of the same. The department has  wall maps, surveying instruments,  weather maps, charts, models, weather instruments models, and computer sets with internet facility and essential furniture is available in the department. The department offers general level course (BA compulsory course (AECC) at undergraduate level. Along with the conventional methods of teaching, LCD, OHP, , internet, maps, are used for making the teaching more effective. Village and municipal survey are organized to provide the project knowledge to the students. Open discussions and feedbacks from the students provide further scope for upgradation. In addition to class room learning,  library, internet, seminars, guest lectures are the other means of learning in the department. The effective methods like group discussions, seminars, tests, tutorials and area reports are helpful to evaluate the students.

We train effective local, national, and international environmental leaders working to create a sustainable society that embodies respect and care for the community of life, ecological integrity, social and economic justice, democracy, nonviolence, and peace. This vision inspires us to achieve excellence in our doctoral and master’s programs and collaborative community service. • To ensure a general grounding of the fundamental knowledge of environment, its epistemological development, and its research methods. • To ensure that students are able to put theoretical, methodological, and project knowledge into practice, make comprehensive analyses, interpret spatial problems and processes, and make territorial diagnoses. • To be able to explain territorial diversity and complexity, and the interrelations of natural environmental phenomena with economic, social, and cultural phenomena. • To develop specific skills related to work techniques, particularly those related to the attention, analysis, process, and representation of environmental information and fieldwork. • To enable graduates to take postgraduate or specialization courses in which a territorial component is dealt with.

 

MISSION:

We educate and train future generations to solve environmental issues at the intersection of biology, chemistry, physics and social sciences.
