OBJECTIVE:

A library attached to or associated with a college and used by students and staff of the college is known as a college library. The objectives of college libraries are:

1. It helps in all-round educational and academic development of the college.

2. It develops a habit of in-depth and advanced studies of subjects outside the conventional knowledge of subjects among the students.

3. It enhances the understanding of different subjects or disciplines among the students.

4. It prepares the students as intelligent, aware, informative, and enlightened citizens to play the role of a responsible citizen.

5. All-round effort to accentuate the library collection to support the teaching and learning process.

MISSION:

3. To explore and implement innovative technologies and services to deliver information and scholarly resources conveniently to the users on the campus.

4. To also provide well-equipped and functional physical spaces where students can pursue learning independently beyond the classroom.

5. Student Reading Room Service:

   Domkal Girls’ College offers one of the best reading ambiences with an impressively spacious library located at the old building of the campus that houses a colossal collection of over three thousand books related to multiple disciplines which can be easily accessed by the students and faculty members for honing their academic aptitude. The library boasts of a spacious reading room offering all the basic amenities to obliterate any sporadic disruption while reading sessions. The college library also initiated a novel experiment to inculcate the habit of reading among the students against the proliferating menace of digital gadgets and social media. Under this initiative, the college library distributes authorized coupons called “LOVE BOOKS” which the students can avail of from a designated counter at the library for fulfilling the mandatory one-hour library service in which the students are mandated to spend an hour in the library to engage in multiple library activities like reading, research, and analysis in accordance with their respective preferences.
